Logistics Coordinator

Job description

As a growing family business, we are looking for the perfect candidate to ensure the safe and efficient running of our yard in Warrington.

We are looking for a Yard / Logistics Coordinator to join our friendly team in Warrington, administrating the maintenance and issue of tools, PPE, hired plant, deliveries, stock, fleet management and maintaining the yard.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all activities taking place in our yard / warehouse
  • Ensuring all vehicles, equipment and materials are parked / stored in a correct manner
  • Plant keyset holder
  • Responsibility for Parking Eye management at the depot
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is logged in / out upon departure / arrival
  • Responsible for ordering and controlling stock. Stock taking and ensuring that stocks are kept of certain items
  • Log hire equipment. Ensure timely off hire of hired equipment. Maintaining records
  • Reporting any lost or stolen tools and equipment
  • Maintaining our tools, PAT testing, arranging servicing, repairs. Keeping up to date records
  • Washing and cleaning all returned tools and equipment to a high standard before its next use
  • Organising and coordinating incoming and outgoing plant, including meet and greet of plant delivered to sites in the area as required
  • Management of plant servicing for machines being operated by the depot
  • Carry out the day-to-day maintenance of the yard / warehouse and car parking area (making sure that it is swept and kept tidy)
  • Understanding of lifting legislation (LOLER, Network Rail lift planning) and associated rules around safe lifting operations
  • Management of depot waste, including quarantine of plant, tools and electrical items (WEEE guidelines for electrical items, railway insulated tools)
  • Support emergency Works with materials ordering and supply chain management
  • Carry out any site deliveries for stocked equipment and tools, as required by the site management team
  • Ensuring that plant and equipment being sent out holds the required in date inspections and testing certification
  • Ensuring the plant and equipment being sent out are fully charged (batteries, task lights, radios)
  • Assisting to service and maintain our fleet of vehicles

The ideal candidate will have

  • Have an understanding of yard duties
  • Full UK Driving License, ideally with Class 2 HGV
  • Plant Operations – Telehandler/Forklift licence
  • Plant Operations – Understanding of Civils and RRV plant
  • Understanding of logistics, including Transport Orders and safe storage
  • Experience of the construction / rail industry
  • Have good interpersonal skills.
  • Have excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent IT skills – MS Office, Excel
  • Must be organised and be able to implement systems
  • Someone that is physically active as this role will involve lifting heavy material
