About Colin
Joining Pro Rail Services in 2018 as POS (Plant Operations Scheme) and Transport Manager, within just five years Colin was appointed Plant and Haulage Director, using his vast experience of plant and haulage to drive yet further growth and success within one of the firm’s flagship departments.
Starting his career 1993, he spent the next 18 years within the plant hire and haulage industry, developing his skills as an HGV driver and plant operator before joining major UK rail and infrastructure services company, Total Rail Services (now part of Readypower) in 2011, spending the next 7 years holding the positions of POS supervisor, plant maintenance coordinator and ALO coordinator.
Key responsibilities
- Directing, planning, and overseeing all of the company’s operations that involve its plant and haulage fleets
- Supporting clients with the planning of all plant projects
- Acting as the firm’s Transport Manager, overseeing vehicle procurement, maintenance and compliance as well as driver behaviour and safety
- Taking on the role of Lift Planner, ensuring that all lifts are properly planned and supervised by a competent person
- Having overall financial responsibility for the performance of the plant and haulage division
- Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all plant and haulage operatives, as well as all those they come into contact with
- Promoting and improving safety awareness towards a target of zero accidents or incidents
